Montreal, the metropolis of the province of Quebec, boasts an active, dynamic, and vibrant artistic and cultural life, and is renowned for its extraordinary blend of European and American influences. Ottawa, the green and peaceful capital of Canada, is considered one of the most beautiful capitals in the world and is host to many great institutions dedicated to the conservation of Canada’s founding peoples’ historical and cultural heritage.

ITINERARY
DAY 1: Montreal Arrival. Arrive independently at our hotel in Montreal, check in, and meet your hosts for a reception, orientation and dinner. (D)
DAY 2: Montreal. Begin with a guided tour of Montreal including the famous Notre-Dame Basilica and highlighting the city’s history and architecture. You have an exclusive visit to an exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts showcasing the life and works of Emily Carr, one of Canada’s foremost artists who has brought to life the wilderness of her native British Columbia and depicted Native American Indian culture. This evening you will enjoy a dinner and private concert. (B, L, D)
DAY 3: Tour to Ottawa. In the morning, we depart for a guided tour of Ottawa highlighting the city’s history and architecture including a visit to Rideau Hall, the official residence and workplace of the Governor General. Built in the 19th century, the house is located on a beautifully landscaped, immense estate which holds an impressive collection of art and antique Canadian furniture. We then visit historic Byward Market, one of the most elegant and pleasant places to shop, eat, and stroll. In the afternoon, we visit the National Gallery of Canada. One of the most beautiful museums in Canada, it was designed by well-known architect Moshe Safide and is well-integrated in the surrounding architecture of nearby Parliament buildings. For summer 2007, the Museum will present Renoir Landscapes: 70 of Renoir's most beautiful landscape paintings, on loan from leading art museums and private collections around the world. We return by train (First Class) and enjoy dinner on the train. (B, D)
DAY 4: Montreal. This morning we visit Discover Flora International, a spectacular array of thematic gardens created by a dynamic team of professional horticulturists and landscape architects including Show Gardens, Water Gardens, City Gardens, Avant-garde Gardens, and Street-side Gardens, and more. Your afternoon is free for your personal explorations in Montreal. This evening we enjoy a special gourmet farewell dinner. (B, D)
DAY 5: Departure. After breakfast check out of your hotel and depart on your individual schedule.
